Alt + Combo
Alt is a brand that develops assistive technology solutions for kids and adults with disabilities, and/or reduced motor skills. Alt has two product lines: Alt Kids and Alt Adults. They differ in design and color, as well as in their applications. The Lidia Clebañer Foundation commissioned us to create the entire brand: its contents, web design, packaging and digital applications.

How did we get started?
We began investigating the reality of living with a disability. We conducted interviews, speaking at length with doctors and their patients, and we read technical bibliographies about the diverse kinds of disabilities. With this information we started building the Alt Universe

What were we looking for?
Using the brand's image and voice, we wanted to build a brand that values the importance of solidarity, of independence and integration.

How did we do it?
We chose to build an independent and optimistic brand, describing a positive attitude by using the tagline "I can". For Alt Kids we created animated characters to tell a story. Lala, the main character, is a little girl in a wheelchair. She is creative and happy and independent, she doesn't demand much attention from her parents. Bright colors, dynamic drawings, names with easy pronunciation and playful applications made the characters easy to recognize and to connect to. They brought to the brand an emotional and conceptual strength that also transmitted a social message.

What did we achieve?
Alt was received as an original brand, full of personality. We combined two fundamental aims through the strategy and development of the brand: to bring to the market new assistive technology and to support a new way of thinking about the disabled.
